What we did this Saturday:
  • I took Clara to her swimming lesson
  • We had a quick lunch at home
  • We decided to get the bikes out for the first time this year
  • Marc repaired Clara's new-to-her bike, put training wheels on Leo's new-to-him bike, and we pumped up all the tires.
  • Ended up biking over to the school yard where Clara enjoyed the sound of cycling through puddles and Leo puttered around on his bike and on foot. Marc and I sat on "la butte" in the sun and took in the blue sky and the heat on our faces.
  • Went home for a quick dinner of leftover homemade split pea soup.
  • We hopped in the car and drove (slowly I may add, traffic was yucky) to the Verdun Auditorium where we met up with two other Carrefour families to watch an Old Timers hockey game which was lots of fun for all of us.

Wednesday was my last visit to the Cabane a Sucre with the Carrefour. As always, Leo and I had a wonderful time. It was sunny, mild, and very tasty :)

I got to see with my own two eyes how much he loves his "girlfriend" Olivia. They sat together on the bus there and back and were constantly hugging one another, tickling each other or Leo was playing with her hair and ears. It was ridiculous. The worst part was that Olivia doesn't mind him caressing her, in fact when I insited he leave her alone she looked at me and said "but I don't mind."

Yummy, sticky tire

Clara has a dictée most Fridays at school. It is a spelling test which she generally aces without much trouble. We still review the words most school nights just to keep in the routine of spelling practise. Last week two of the words that Clara has to stop and think about each time she wrote were soeur (sister) and février (February). Other words on recent lists have been fête and j'adore.

This is what she wrote on the whiteboard when I asked her to make up a sentence using the words she found most difficult. She did ask me to write Patricia before she started.

Pretty cute, n'est pas?

A few weeks ago we spent a fun afternoon at the little patinoire in the school yard. It was a cold day but we had an enthusiastic skater and boot slider on our hands so off we went to make the best of a frigid Montreal Saturday. Leo only skated for about 5 minutes at the end of the afternoon, he spent the rest of his time "curling" with Marc and I. Someone had the ingenious idea of filling several 4L water jugs with coloured water which of course froze solid and made excellent curling rocks! We chucked them down the ice using any technique that worked and Clara steered clear.

All we needed for an afternoon at the ice rink.

Yes, it is ccccold!

Leo's first time on skates, Marc ended up with a hurt back :(

Getting to be a pro

Leo: what is Clara's school?
Marc: you know, she goes to Arc-en-Ciel.
Leo: no, what is it....
Marc: (doesn't have a clue what Leo is getting at) I don't know bud.
Leo: its not HIGH school... oh, it is LOW school. She goes to low school.
Marc: (trying to contain himself) it is called primary school, or elementary school.
Leo: Yeah, Clara goes to low school. (in that satsified tone he has when he thinks he has everything all figured out)
